January Roundup

Welcome to my first monthly roundup or recommendations!

Most products/services that I have tried, tested and am obsessed with are tailored to creatives, people wishing to live a more creative life, business owners, and freelancers. Occasionally I'll throw in something from other facets of my life like beauty products, cat owner life savers, or just overall necessary steals I might run into. Everything I write about I do pay for out of my own pocket but will usually post my referral link if I have one so we both can get something out of it!

1. The Cricut Explore Air 2

Okay so cutting machines in general. When I was younger, I made a lot of handmade birthday cards for family and friends and always had the desire to make custom gifts and home decor, stickers, and just cute craftsy items in general. I've always heard of the Cricut and Silhouette Cameo machines, but never really understood how they worked exactly. Flash forward like 5 or 6 years, a coworker of mine introduces me to her Cricut Maker which she uses for her business. I was floored by the sheer number of things you can accomplish with one of these babies. So when it went on sale for $199.00 for Black Friday and the holiday season (it was on sale for a month or so) I had to jump on it. I have to say, it brings your craft game up several levels. I'm going to try stickers next!

2. thermal laminator

Where has this been all my life?I haven't really dealt with anything laminated since I was in kindergarten but I'm using these (or plan on using it) to laminate my stickers to give them that nice shiny gloss. And at this price (under $18) the AmazonBasics Thermal Laminator is to die for and super easy to use. I'm going to go ahead and admit that I've been laminating everything like crazy since I've gotten this.

3. HP instant ink program

I just bought a new HP printer in December as well, and it came with a three month free trial of HP instant ink. I was a little hesitant about it at first because of all of the reviews I've seen on it on Amazon (where basically people didn't like being "fooled" into signing up) but so far in my free trial program, I've been LOVING this program because of the following reasons:

1) the service is connected to your smart printer. When you're running low on ink, it sends a notification to HP and they will send you your replacement cartridges before you run out. So you never have to make a run to the store at 1am when you have a paper due, or a client project to mockup in my case.

2) it's CHEAPER than normal ink because you're not paying for the amount of ink you use, you're paying for the amount of pages you print. So I can sign up for the 50 page per month limit (which is only like 3 bucks a month??) or the 100 page or even 300 (don't need that many) and not worry about the full color photos I'm printing in quantity BECAUSE I know I'm not wasting my ink. And with the insane prices of ink, this is so ideal.

So if you have a HP eligible printer, consider signing up for a trial. My code will get you and me both 3 free months!

That's all for this month! See ya in February.
